Neighbourhood/Location

Clinton Hill is a tiny neighborhood with a big history. First built in the mid nineteen-hundreds, it boasts large swaths of landmark protected buildings. Architecture lovers are advised to take a stroll down Gates Avenue and walk up Washington Avenue or Clinton Avenue. While our surroundings are mostly residential, a pleasant crop of restaurants, pubs and cafes can be found within a five-minute stroll of our house. We love the little cluster of eateries that have recently opened up four blocks up at the corner of Classon and Greene Avenues. Check out the mouthwatering home cooked Cuban fare at Pilar. Or head across the street to Speedy Romeo for sensational gourmet pizza. At the same intersection of Classon and Greene, get your daytime caffeine fix at Italian cafe Nero Doro and return after dusk, when this neighborhood gem transforms into a cozy wine bar. Top rated vegan bakery Clementine and popular Mexican taqueria Salva Vida complete the culinary line-up at our doorsteps. Head a little further up to Dekalb or Myrtle Avenues near Pratt University, soak up the local student vibe and listen to live music or head down to Fulton Street with its colorful restaurants, cafes and bars. Find some Caribbean and North African flavors on the stretch between Classon and Clinton Avenues. Walk west and cross Clinton Avenue into trendy Fort Greene to visit famous BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music), grab a bite on Fulton Street or frolic in Fort Greene Park. Find us on Google Maps and click on "directions" to find out how close we are to where you want to go.

Laundry
Clean Rite Cleaners, located five blocks (five minute walking distance) "at the convergence of Fulton St., Putnam Ave. and Cambridge Pl., is one of the biggest laundromats you'll find in the neighborhood. With its 60 washers (ranging in size from Double Load to Super Giant Load) available to you 24-hours a day, seven days a week, you'll have to find a new excuse to put off doing your laundry until tomorrow. A number of brands of detergents, fabric softeners, and dryer sheets are available at the front counter, and if you really just don't want to wash your clothes, same day wash-and-fold service is available." -http://fortgreene.patch.com/
Please note that we offer optional weekly linen and bi-weekly towel service. For $100/month plus 8.875% sales tax we will change your linens every Monday and exchange your towels every Monday and Friday.

Grocery
For grocery shopping, you are five blocks (five minutes) from Met Supermarket, our local supermarket on Fulton Street, on the way to the subway. Walk one more block to shop at Green Planet, our neighborhood health food store. Cross the street and check out our personal favorite, Brooklyn Victory Garden, funky neighborhood cafe and purveyor of deliciously fresh "locavore" fare.

Parking
Street parking is free and ridiculously easy to find (for New York City anyway). Only on Sundays, parking spots may be in moderate supply, because there is a church across the street and many people drive to services. If you are looking for a spot on a Sunday morning, you may have to park a block away. Please observe opposite side of the street cleaning rules. This means that for about two hours twice a week, you can only park on one side of the street.

Subway
Our house is between the Franklin Avenue (three blocks from our house) and the Clinton/Washington Ave subway station (seven blocks from our house) of the C-train. Take it to the West Village of Manhattan and beyond, or for a speed boost, take the C-train two stops from Clinton/Washington to Hoyt/Schermerhorn Station and cross the platform to hop on the A Express-train. Three stops later, you are at Fulton Street Station in the Financial District of Manhattan. Here, you can stay on and zoom to the Upper West Side or switch to any number of trains that will take you anywhere in Manhattan you need to go.
